Heading toward the south end of town, the trolleys stop at Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts
Village. Built next to Oak Creek in the 1970s as an artist community, it is now a
place to have a "shopping experience". Some of the art for sale there
is created on site.
Tlaquepaque features upscale shops and art galleries and fine dining. I'd just had a big
slice of pizza for lunch, and I couldn't think of a single upscale item I needed. I
decided to skip the shopping experience, and opted instead for a relaxing outdoor stroll
on the cobblestones while feasting my eyes on the architecture, sculptures, gardens, and
fountains of Tlaquepaque.
Near Tlaquepaque sits this private home on a hill.
Beyond Sedona's southernmost shopping area, and away from the "busy-ness" of its touristy
business district, the spectacular natural scenery continues. Chapel of the Holy Cross was recommended as
a place that offers great views of the landscape. Here's a preview.
