The main feature of Charleston's downtown waterfront is... water!
There's water to view from the pier...

water coming out of a formal fountain...

and water coming out of a "for fun" fountain
to play and splash in (and be splashed by).

That "for fun" fountain is just a few steps from this entrance to a quiet tree-lined walkway through Waterfront Park.   It's a nice place to take a stroll, or to sit on a bench to read or to visit, or just to relax and do "nothing" ... (which I think is really a highly underrated "something"!)  :o)
